Daily email

Notes from an EdTech Founder

I run an EdTech company that sells to school districts. Every weekday morning I write one short email about what that actually looks like. Education, AI, and the parts nobody puts in a case study.

Free. Unsubscribe whenever. I read every reply.

What this is

I'm going to tell you what I see from here

I'm Damon. I started Alludo. Districts use it to run professional development their staff will actually finish.

Which puts me in a strange seat.

In a given week I'm on a call with an assistant superintendent who needs to train 1,200 people with a team of two. I'm watching which districts actually cut a PO and which ones just nod a lot. I'm talking to other founders about where AI is really landing in classrooms.

Which is nowhere near where the keynotes say it is.

Almost none of that makes it into a case study. Too specific. Too unresolved. Too unflattering to somebody.

So I'm putting it here instead.

The format

Short. Daily. One thing at a time.

One idea per email. Usually something that actually happened — a conversation, a decision a district made, something I got wrong.

Weekday mornings. If you were expecting the old Saturday roundup…this isn't that.

Five minutes. Often two.

No link dumps. No "five trends to watch." No recaps of other people's work.

And sometimes I'll stop in the middle of a thought and pick it up the next day. I do that. Fair warning.

Fair warning

This isn't for everyone

I'd rather you find that out now than three weeks from now.

Probably you if…

  • You work in or around K-12 and you're tired of being marketed at
  • You make real decisions about professional learning or ed tech
  • You want to know how AI is actually being used in districts, including the parts that aren't working
  • You don't mind a daily email from someone you find useful

Skip it if…

  • A daily email sounds like a lot. It is. That's the deal.
  • You want balanced, both-sides coverage. I have opinions and a company.
  • You're here for grants and a link roundup. That was the old newsletter.
  • You'd rather not hear about Alludo at all.

The deal

Yes, I sell something

I'm not going to pretend this is a public service.

I own a company that sells to school districts. Some of these emails will end with a reason to talk to us.

Here's the trade: the emails have to be worth your five minutes whether or not you ever buy a thing from me.

If they stop being worth it, unsubscribe. There's a link at the bottom of every one. I won't take it personally.

Most of it won't be about Alludo anyway. It'll be about the thing I keep running into from every direction:

Schools are being asked to adopt faster than they can train.

Nobody has solved that. Including me.

Put your email in. The first one shows up within a day.

P.S. The old newsletter was the PD Intelligencer — Saturdays, links and grant listings. If that's what you signed up for, I'm sorry. This is a different thing now.
