DESCRIPTION

As educational outcomes and the nature of technology integration shift, the goals and methods of professional learning must accommodate this change. New standards, new platforms, and new devices require updated approaches. Edtech leaders need to develop professional learning opportunities that align with new outcomes and engage educators with varied skill sets and backgrounds.    Learn how Hueneme Elementary School District designed, implemented and launched a gamified professional learning program that supports innovative, choice-driven professional development, district-wide. Our program, COAST (Collaborative, Online, Activity-based, Self-paced Training), features an online game to introduce teachers to 21st century tools and techniques, as well as an administrator game to help educational leaders to better understand new platforms and best practices for technology integration. We will discuss how we engage staff, incentivize participation, and maintain user engagement.
